Photograms

During this project, we learned how to get white, black and gray on a piece of photo paper. Also I learned that when you put  different object on a piece of photo paper they come out in different colors.

Photogram Worksheet

1.) You can achieve white on a photogram, by  letting little light to photo paper.
2.) You can achieve black on a photogram, by letting a lot of light to the photo paper.
3.) You can achieve gray on a photogram, by letting a little light but not too much to make it back. in other words in the middle of the time for white and black.
4.) They are desgined in the classroom, because then you can see it with full light so you have an idea of what it may look like. Also so you can do your draft of what you want your photogram to look like.
5.) You need to make a test strip first so you can see how much light your whole photogram needs.
6.) They are reffered to as 'painting of light", because you are useing objects to make a picture, and they come out in different shades of colors (white, black, and gray)
7.) The developer brings up the invisible image on the photo paper.
8.) The stopper stops the picture from developing onto the photo paper.
9.) The fixer stops the chemicals from working and producing the picture. Also it lets you bring the photo into the light without  it turning black.
10.) The fixer remover helps remove all of the chemicals off the photo paper.
11.) The final wash helps rinse off any left over chemicals on the photo paper and keeps the photo clean.

We did this project to help us show how you  can change a picture from a negative to a positive.  I also learned about the inlarger, and how to focus it with enough  light and using the cardboard to make a test strip.

Pinhole Camera

We did this project to learn about the three main things cameras have. those three things are light tight, shudder, and aperture. With the pinhole camera it helped me see how the can (light tight) kept in most of the light other then the small hole on the side of the can (aperture) that was covered by tape (shudder). The tap blocked the light going into the can until you  took it off the hole to take a picture. It may have taken awhile but these are the pictures i got out of this project. I thought this project was very fun and interesting.

Pinhole Camera Worksheet

1. A darkened box with a aperture for protecting the image or picture being taken on the inside of the darkened object.
2. A camera that has a pinhole aperture and no lens.
3. All three things cameras have in common are light tight, shudder, and aperture.
4.The two part that allow light to enter is the shudder and aperture.
5. You check by if your picture paper if it turns completely black. If it does you can fix it by covering the leak(s) with foil or a cover.
6. Camera shake is when the camera moves while it takes a picture. You can prevent this by holding the camera still and putting it on a hard surface when you are taking the picture.
7. The developer helps the picture show up on the paper and shows you if you go a picture, too much light  or not enough light.
8. The stop bath stops the picture from developing and almost puts a finish to the picture.
9. The fixer helps the picture stay as it is and protects it.
10. You agitate the chemicals while printing, because it helps to get all of the chemicals onto the picture  and help the picture develop faster.
11. You can prevent prints from sticking together, by agitating them in chemicals and moving them around  carefully.
12.  we wash prints, so we can get the left over chemicals off the picture and have a clean picture we can touch. Also to prevent the chemicals from ruining the picture.
